Heroes can be anyone at any point in time, especially when tragedy strikes. There are many examples of how a stranger or anyone can be a hero by their actions. Sereika was an alcoholic who had to go to rehab, because of his past people started to think differently about him. His paramedic license was suspended and after that his life changed a lot. One day he got a voice mail form his sister saying, “I love you, I know you’re out there helping." That was a wakeup call for him and a moment to change his life. Sereika put on his uniform he had stored away and headed out the door to go help find survivors. When Sereika gets to the World Trade Center he starts to look for survivors. A couple minutes into the search he is at a location where Officer Jimeno and Mclougin who were buried under the debris. He yells, asking if anyone helps he hears a voice screaming, “I’m here!" He follows the voice there he sees the two officers. One of the officers tells him not to leave so Sereika says he won't. Since he can't leave Sereika calls his sister and tells her to call 9-1-1, she does then help arrives. The men exhausted men were replaced with men who had energy. Sereika went home and decided to change his life. These are actions of a hero because he never left those men until help arrived.
On the other hand Sereika isn’t the only hero I read about. Another person who I would consider a hero is a man named Rolfe Carle. He was just an original news reporter until one day something tragic happened that changed his life. There was a little named Azucena who was stuck in a mud pit, after a volcano erupted in Colombia. Carle never suspected that he would find a fragment of his past, lost thirty years before. As soon as Carle saw Azucena, doing everything in his power to help and give her hope that she will be free she just had to stay alive. Rolfe had an idea to get her out of the pit, he just needed a pump. So he called and said on TV. can anyone please help him get a pump, but no one answered. The pump came too late and Azucena was dead. This affected a big part of Carle’s life so he went home exhausted. The next day he stared outside the window and never said a word. I think these are actions of a hero because he did everything in his power to try and save her, while other reporters document her and the people at home just sat and watched the TV. did nothing to help.
